Frameworks Behind The DOABLE System™

Six frictions. Five stages. One of thirty combinations is yours.

Military leaders building something of their own from their expertise run into something that is not a knowledge gap and is not a discipline problem.

Most people assume it is strategy. It rarely is.

You are building something original without a proven map, without a reliable benchmark for whether you are doing it right, and without a framework precise enough to name what is slowing you down.

These frameworks were built to name it.

Pinpoint My Friction

The Builder’s Dilemma™

The specific experience of building something original from deep expertise, without a proven model to follow.

You have a record of accomplishment. Most of it earned inside structures that supplied direction, resources, and a team.

Now you are building something that does not come with any of that.

What follows is friction that is hard to explain from the outside and harder to explain to yourself:
• Uncertainty despite competence
• Progress slower than it should be for someone with your record
• Direction that gets reconsidered every morning
• No clear basis for deciding what matters next
• Momentum that arrives in bursts and leaves without warning

The Builder’s Dilemma is not a shortage of capability. It is the cost of building without certainty, and it is what these frameworks are built to resolve.

Four components. One system.

  • The Builder’s Dilemma™ names the problem.
  • The Long Build™ maps the terrain.
  • The Diagnostics locate you on it.
  • The DOABLE Approach™ is how you move.

Everything below explains one of the four.

1. The Long Build™

 THE TERRAIN
The developmental journey

Building something original happens in stages, and the friction changes as you move through them.

What slows you at the beginning is not what slows you three years in.

The Long Build describes five stages:

01 — Expanding
A growing awareness that your next contribution is larger than your current role.

02 — Exploring
Testing possibilities, gathering information, weighing directions.

03 — Committing
Choosing a path and building with intention.

04 — Generating Momentum
Creating systems, consistency, and repeatable progress.

05 — Elevating Impact
Expanding influence, contribution, and long-term value.

The question it answers: Where am I in the build?

2. The DOABLE Military Friction Finder™

Diagnostic: 18 questions. 5 to 8 minutes. Free.

Not all friction is the same, and the visible one is often not the binding one.

The Friction Finder identifies which of six frictions is most acting on your build right now:

  • Directional Friction™ — the destination is unnamed. You cannot choose a direction.
  • Opportunity Friction™ — the direction is known, but too many routes to it compete for your attention.
  • Access & Capital Friction™ — the resources, relationships, and asks required are not moving.
  • Beliefs Friction™ — what you believe about the build, or about yourself in it, is holding the effort down.
  • Capability Friction™ — the capacity the build now requires is not yet built, or not yet trusted.
  • Momentum Friction™ — progress starts and does not hold.

The point is not to catalogue what is hard. It is to name the one friction most determining whether you move.

The question it answers: What is slowing my build?

You get your DOABLE Map™: your primary friction, explained, and the next step through it.

3. The Long Build Profile™

Diagnostic: 5 to 8 minutes. Free.

The same friction behaves differently depending on where you are in the build.  Beliefs friction at Exploring is a different problem than Beliefs friction at Generating Momentum.

The Long Build Profile identifies your current stage.

Combined with your Friction Finder result, it produces one of thirty friction-and-stage combinations, and with it your DOABLE Route™ , a precise read on what you are experiencing, why, and what to address first.

4. The DOABLE Approach™

THE METHOD
How you move through friction

Six dimensions determine whether a build progresses. DOABLE names them:

D - Desires
Clarify what you want the work, the contribution, and the next chapter to become.

O - Opportunities
Identify the pathways and strategic possibilities available to you.

A - Access and Capital
Assess the resources, relationships, and leverage you actually have.

B - Beliefs
Strengthen what has to be true for you to sustain action through uncertainty.

L - Learning
Acquire the knowledge, support, and experience the build requires.

E - Engagement
Take consistent action that produces progress.

Why the six frictions and the six dimensions match

Each friction is what a weak dimension looks like from the inside.

The diagnostic and the method are the same architecture viewed from two directions

Weak Dimension ==>>  Friction
|------------------|----------------------|
|Desires |Directional |
|Opportunities |Opportunity |
|Access and Capital|Access & Capital |
|Beliefs |Beliefs |
|Learning |Capability |
|Engagement |Momentum |

This is why the diagnostic and the method are the same architecture viewed from two directions. The Friction Finder tells you which dimension is not holding. The Approach tells you how to strengthen it.
It is also why single fixes rarely last. The dimensions interact. Strengthen Learning while Beliefs stays weak and the new capability goes unused.

Understand the build. Pinpoint the friction. Chart the route. Make the next move.

You have commanded through harder terrain than this. You just need the map.

Founding Client Engagement

I’m working with five military leaders as DOABLE Founding Clients while I refine and document the full eight-week individual engagement.

You get the complete engagement at founding rates. I get candid feedback from people building exactly what this was made for.

Five spots. Five remaining.
